Back
in the 1980's only the brave ventured down to the South of Market
Area, not so today. Now it's the hip place to live and work,
and the center of San Francisco's dot.com world. Commonly called
"SOMA", its old industrial warehouses
have been transformed into internet businesses, nightclubs,
restaurants, hotels, museums, and New York-style loft/work spaces.
Residents are "techies," artists and young professionals,
many of whom can roll out of bed after a night at the clubs
and walk to the office.
